How Build My Oil Cleaner selects the right oil filtration system

Build My Oil Cleaner is an engineering-based selection tool developed to help identify a suitable Triple R Oil Cleaner for your application. Instead of selecting an oil filtration system by filter size alone, the tool considers the actual operating conditions of your equipment.

The selection starts with the fluid type and oil volume and then uses relevant technical parameters such as viscosity, operating temperature, available pressure, installation type and application. Depending on the selected fluid, Build My Oil Cleaner automatically adjusts the questions. Hydraulic oils, lubrication oils, turbine oils and thermal oils are evaluated using ISO VG viscosity grades, while engine oils use SAE classifications. Fuel applications follow a dedicated selection route.

Based on these inputs, the tool checks the technical limits and application data of the available Triple R Oil Cleaner systems. Unsuitable configurations are excluded before the remaining systems are ranked. This helps prevent oversized, incorrectly applied or technically unsuitable filtration systems from being recommended.

Oil filtration for hydraulics, gearboxes, turbines and more

Triple R Oil Cleaner systems are used for offline and bypass oil filtration in a wide range of industrial applications. Build My Oil Cleaner can assist with system selection for hydraulic power packs, injection moulding machines, hydraulic presses, gearboxes, circulating lubrication systems, compressors, turbines, generator sets, marine equipment and other industrial machinery.

Depending on the application, the recommended solution may be a self-contained offline oil filtration system with its own pump and motor or a pressure-fed system connected to an existing oil circuit.

The selector also considers practical requirements such as stationary, mobile or wall-mounted installation. Where operating conditions require additional engineering,  including ATEX applications, high operating pressures or special fluids, Build My Oil Cleaner identifies this and advises consultation with TRIS before the final configuration is selected.

Why viscosity and temperature matter when selecting an oil filter system

Oil viscosity has a direct influence on the performance of an offline or bypass oil filtration system. An ISO VG 220 or ISO VG 460 oil can behave very differently at 20 °C than at 60 °C. For this reason, Build My Oil Cleaner does not evaluate the nominal viscosity grade in isolation. Oil grade and operating temperature are used together to estimate the actual operating viscosity in cSt.

This allows the selector to compare the expected viscosity with the operating limits of the available Triple R systems. For engine oils, SAE grades are converted to an approximate operating viscosity for initial system selection. Where the actual operating viscosity is known, it can be entered directly.

At elevated fluid temperatures, the required sealing materials are also considered. At fluid temperatures of 80 °C and above, Viton (FKM) seals are applied to the system.

A technical recommendation with TRIS engineering support

Build My Oil Cleaner is designed to provide a technically relevant starting point, not to replace application engineering. When a standard configuration can be selected, the tool provides the recommended Triple R Oil Cleaner, suitable filter element information and direct access to the product page, technical documentation and quotation request.

If the entered operating conditions fall outside the standard selection range, the technical information is retained and can be sent directly to TRIS for review. This means unusual applications do not simply end with “no system found”, they become an engineering enquiry based on the actual operating data.
